Easy Chocolate Tart
Chocolate tart is an easy peasy dessert that is sure to satisfy any chocolate cravings. Rich and decadent, it lovely with a large glass of red wine and a good movie.
Serves 6-8 (you only need a small slice)
You will need:
- 1 quantity of pastry (I used Dominique’s Easy Pastry, which requires flour, sugar, butter and 2 eggs, but you can use Jus-Roll ready made pastry instead if you like)
- 200g dark chocolate (I would stick with 75% cocoa solids and over)
- 1 cup of double cream
- 2 egg yolks
- 1/2 tsp vanilla bean paste
- Preheat your oven to 220°c and get some tunes on. An apron would be idea too, particularly if you like to lick the bowl (recommended).
- Once you’ve made your pastry (or whipped it out of a packet), roll it out evenly and place in your pie dish. Press it in firmly into the dish with your fingertips.
- Trim off your excess, prick all over with a fork and pop in the oven for 20 mins.
- While it’s cooking, pop your chocolate and cream in a saucepan and warm on a low heat, stirring until the chocolate melts. Remove from the heat and whisk it lightly until smooth.
- Crack your egg yolks into a bowl (why not save the whites to make meringues?) and whisk until broken up. Pour in a small amount of the chocolate and whisk until smooth.
- Now add the rest of the chocolate and the vanilla bean paste and whisk until smooth.
- When your pie crust is cooked, remove from the oven and cool for half an hour. Pour in the chocolate mixture and leave to cool. When the pie dish is cool to the touch (after a couple of hours) transfer to the fridge to set.
- Serve with single cream and raspberries if you’re feeling decadent! Enjoy!
