Perfect for Christmas! (photo by John)

To make this fabulous Christmassy cookies:

In a mixer place:

  • 1 1/2 cups shortening
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup molasses

…and mix all well.

Add:

  • 4 cups flour
  • 4 tsps baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 4 heaping tsps ground ginger
  • 2 heaping tsps ground cinnamon
  • 2 tsps ground cloves

…. and combine all together until well mixed.

Use a small ice-cream scoop to place each cookie on a greased cookie sheet. Moisten the bottom of a flat-bottom glass, dip it in white sugar and press the cookie flat.

Bake for 9 minutes in a 180°c / 350°F oven.
